On the calm ocean surface of Johore Strait, Singapore, rows of neat solar panels, like a giant net that captures sunlight, collecting and converting it into uninterrupted flow of electricity. This is a fishery-PV complementary power station that has just been built and commissioned with ATESS HPS system. Two HPS150 were installed in parallel on a large fishing boat, supporting the infrastructure aboard and also fishing aerator, water pump etc.. The system is configured with 369KW PV, 800AH lead-acid battery, DG and one 40kw on-grid inverter. HPS runs in off-grid mode and simulates utility grid to sustain the on-grid inverter on another subordinate boat.

"Fishery-PV power station refers to the combination of Fishery and solar power generation, PV modules are installed on the fish breeding barrels or fish ponds, to play a role in blocking the hot sunlight , reducing temperature , water evaporation and the probability of fish being scalded. At the same time it can also reduce photosynthesis of water plants and improve water quality to create better living condition for the fish, forming a new modern mode of aquaculture.

The key point of the project scheme is paralleling two models. ATESS HPS system adopts master-slave paralleling method, which is easy for expanding system capacity and maintenance afterwards. The master-slave control mode is to determine a module as the host through certain logical selection. When the host fails or exits the system, the following slave automatically switches and perform the control function of host. This kind of control method avoids collapse of the whole system caused by the failure of the main controller, so as to improves the system reliability.

When ATESS engineer team visited the project site, the owner of the fishing boat expressed his endorsement,”I’ve got the feeling that I’m doing something significant. In the past powering the boat completely relied on traditional diesel generator, which can lead to marine pollution. Since ATESS solar storage technology was adopted, it not only protects the environment, but also greatly enhance my profit.”
