Bringing Light to Rural Thailand: How ATESS Empowered a Village with Solar Storage

The rainy season in Thailand, from June to October, brings with it a unique set of challenges. While the landscape blooms with vibrant green, the heavy downpours can also disrupt power lines, leaving communities in the dark. This is especially true in remote villages nestled deep within the forest, where access to repair crews can be limited. We at ATESS recently faced this challenge head-on, working with a village in the heart of Thailand to ensure an uninterrupted power supply during the rainy season.

The Problem: Power Outages and the Impact on Daily Life

The village we partnered with experiences an average of 1 to 2 power failures per month during the rainy season. These outages can last anywhere from 1 to 3 days, significantly impacting daily life. Imagine trying to cook meals, study for exams, or even access basic healthcare services in the dark. The lack of reliable power not only disrupts daily routines but also creates a sense of vulnerability and uncertainty.

Our Solution: ATESS and the Power of Solar Storage

To address this challenge, we at ATESS implemented a comprehensive solution: the installation of five solar storage systems in the village. These systems were strategically placed at key locations: the government building, the health center, and three schools. Each solar storage system is designed to provide clean, reliable power even during extended power outages. The solar panels capture energy from the sun, storing it in batteries for later use. This ensures that essential services remain operational, even when the grid goes down.
